Our 10 favourite things to do with teens in Bali

Looking for some unique activities to get involved in on your next family trip to Bali? Here are our top ten things to do to keep teens and older kids interested… and some yummy ideas for places to eat when you get hungry from all that fresh air.

1. Odyssey Surf School.

Bali’s great surf is the reason Aussies started flocking to the island and it’s a great place to learn, in the warm water and long clean waves of Kuta Beach.

2. Surfing Keramas and Uluwatu.

If you’re already a proficient surfer, then head for more challenging surf at Uluwatu and try your hand at night surfing at Komune Resort in Keramas.

3. White water rafting.

Bali Adventure Tours can take you on a variety of rafting routes, with varying levels of difficulty down the beautiful Ayung River.

4. Bali Buggy and Quad Bike Tours.

Get off road in Payangan on a quad bike of 4WD buggy, through all kinds of terrain, passing rice fields and villages along the way.

5. Waterbom Bali.

This waterpark has rides of all sizes and levels of adrenalin rush, from Lazy River to Smash Down, where you’ll reach speeds of 70km/h smashing down an 8-storey slide at a 60 degree angle.

6. Bali Treetop Adventure Park

A 75-minute drive from Kuta, the park has several challenging high ropes courses, catering for all levels of fitness and agility (and fear of heights).

7. Infinity Mountain Biking.

Go mountain biking through lush green forest, along the slopes of Bali’s volcanos or take a hair-raising trip down Mount Abang.

8. Cooking classes.

Because you want to be able to make satay chicken and nasi goreng when you get home right? Of course you do! There are cooking classes at most resorts, or try Payuk Bali Cooking Class in Ubud.

9. Snorkeling at Nusa Lembongan.

Take a day trip across the Lombok Strait to Nusa Lembongan and go snorkelling with manta rays and the beautiful coral gardens of Crystal Bay.

Top 3 places to eat

1. Mamasan.

This funky Asian-fusion restaurant in Seminyak serves up a delicious selection of Asian treats including Hainanese chicken, dumplings and roti – cooked to perfection.

2. Pizza Bagus.

Little Italy in downtown Ubud, this place has been serving up pizza and pasta, as well as Indonesian dishes such as Nasi Goreng and Gado Gado, since 1996.

3. Finn’s Beach Club.
