The Glossops let us in on Perth’s secrets

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

A family of seven, the Glossops are well-versed in juggling everyone’s preferences and interests. They know a thing or two about family holidays, so we asked them about their home town Perth and why we should plan a visit.

Why should we visit Perth?

We are blessed with amazing sunny weather, beautiful beaches and incredible sunsets over the ocean. Perth is a great holiday destination because the people are so relaxed and friendly. Make sure you bring a hat, bathers and camera.

Where should we go when we visit Perth?

We would recommend a visit to Fremantle or Rottnest which we were lucky to showcase with our Families of Australia outings. Fremantle has great culture and atmosphere providing a nice spot to catch up for coffee or lunch. Rottnest Island is a great day trip with beautiful secluded beaches and a relaxed island environment.

Check out an awesome 48 hour itinerary for exploring Perth. Watch more episodes of the Families of Australia web series, or read about it here.

We would also recommend trips to Kings Park which has amazing views of the City, Cottesloe for a great beach, and Point Walter or Heathcote for a BBQ and play.

The Swan Valley is a great spot to visit a few wineries or the chocolate factory. Click here to read more about a family getaway to the Swan Valley.

A trip to Perth would not be complete without a visit to the new Optus Stadium which only recently opened and will host all our major sporting events. It’s also close to the Crown Casino and some of the most beautiful parklands.

Where do you like to go for a weekend away?

Our favourite camping spot is Dwellingup along the Murray River. We also enjoy regular visits to Mandurah, Bunbury and Busselton – all perfect places down south for little getaways. Read up here on more weekend getaways from Perth.

What do you do on your weekends at home?

We are a very active family who love the outdoors. We do Parkrun each and every Saturday morning, and also enjoy camping, bush walking, and playing or watching sport (West Coast Eagles, Perth Wildcats or Perth Scorchers).

What has been your favourite adventure as a family?

In 2011 we travelled Australia for 8 months with a Caravan. At the time we had 4 children. We called it Our Big Adventure. It was the holiday of a lifetime and we made so many fantastic memories exploring our beautiful country. It was great spending real quality time together.
