Delhi

Saturday. Welcome to India! Upon arrival into Delhi airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax or explore head out and explore India’s bustling capital.

Old & New Delhi

This morning meet your guide and the rest of the group at the welcome meeting. Then we enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi, where highlights include Humayun’s Tomb, Jama Masjid – India’s oldest and largest mosque and Raj Ghat – the site of Gandhi’s cremation in Old Delhi, and in New Delhi Rajpath and India Gate. Tonight, we enjoy a group Namaste dinner at our hotel.

Taj Mahal

Delhi – Agra. This morning we bid farewell to the capital and make our way to Agra. Our first stop here is the impressive Agra Fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind its fortified walls. Later we travel on to the exquisite Taj Mahal. Built by the order of Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz, the Taj Mahal is one of the most extravagant monuments to love ever built.

The princely state of Karauli

Agra – Karauli. Bright and early this morning we visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, which has been deserted for over four centuries after it was allegedly abandoned due to a lack of water. Thanks to the very durable red sandstone from which it was built, Fatehpur Sikri still remains well-preserved and is a fascinating place to explore.

We drive on to Bharatpur where we’ll enjoy lunch before continuing our journey to Karauli, which was a princely state of India from 1348 until 1949. We spend the night at the beautiful Palace Bhanwar Vilas, which is the home of the current Maharaja and Maharani of Karauli. During our stay, we can explore the palace and grounds at leisure. The sovereigns, continue to reside at the palace and the young princess often gives guided tours of the palace, which we will take part in, if the opportunity arises. The family is also lovingly restoring the Karauli City Palace, which we visit later this afternoon. Tonight, opt to attend the evening Aaarti (prayer) taking place nearby.

Jaipur

Karauli – Jaipur. This morning we stop briefly to meet the children and teachers at a local school (if open) where we operate our ‘Change for Children’ programme. If you have bought any educational items with you to hand out to children this would be the time to do so. Then we drive on to Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your own leisure.

Jaipur sightseeing

Early this morning you can opt to float over the lofty hilltop forts and regal palaces of Jaipur in a hot air balloon, on our Balloon Over Jaipur Add-on. Then we travel beyond Jaipur to the stunning 16th century Amber Fort, where we enjoy a tour of the fort’s well-preserved interior and grounds. Later we visit a cotton weaving house to see a demonstration of fabric dyeing and block printing before touring the City Palace and Jantar Mantar – an old yet cleverly designed space observatory.

Return to Delhi

Jaipur – Delhi. We return to Delhi this morning. The afternoon and evening is free for you to independently explore the capital and perhaps enjoy some last minute souvenir shopping.

When will my booking be confirmed?
Once your Family Travel Voucher has been purchased you will be contacted by a member of the Family Travel Reservations team. Family Travel will work with the tour operator to get you booked onto your preferred travel dates. If for any reason we are unable to book you onto your preferred dates please refer to the Family Travel 30 Day Booking Guarantee to understand our refund policy. When booking into your travel dates, make sure you have your travel voucher number, traveller names and details of any special requirements. The Family Travel team will send an email to you confirming all of your booking information.

What is the cancellation procedure? / Can I cancel or make changes to my booking?
If for any reason you need to cancel, contact the Family Travel reservation team on 1300 404 100, and make sure you have your travel voucher number and traveller names on hand. Please be aware that the travel operator may impose cancellation fees. In addition, Family Travel will charge a AUD $100 per person cancellation fee. Once we have received a variable request for cancellation, we request it be submitted in writing. Once received we will begin to process your cancellation. 


I haven’t received my Family Travel voucher yet. What do I do?

If you have not received your voucher within 24 hours contact Family Travel on 1300 404 100 and we will resend your voucher by email.
