Overview

Kids can meet animals from around the world in the middle of Queensland at The Darling Downs Zoo. Outside of Toowoomba, this family friendly zoo has keeper talks, animal feedings, bird shows and even the opportunity to have a close encounter with some of the wildlife. What’s not to like?

It’s home to the only pride of African lions and white lions in Queensland, baboons, monkeys, marmosets, rare Sumatran tiger, tropical birds, kangaroos and white wallabies, as well as delightful meerkats and the largest herd of zebras and giant tortoises in the state.

Wander round meeting the residents or make a date for one of the presentations where visitors can meet a baby crocodile, witness big cat feeding time, learn about the monkeys, take a selfie with a venomous snake or sign up for a Big Cat Encounter and go behind the scenes with the white lions and the tigers.
