Lake Burley Griffin lies in the center of Canberra and stretches 40km. Its an artificial lake that was finished in 1963 and is at the geographic heart of Canberra. It’s named after Walter Burley Griffin, the architect who designed Canberra. There are bike tracks around the edge and two islands that are accessible by boat. You can kayak, row or even dragon boat in the lake, making it perfect for active families who want to explore all Canberra has to offer.
